They both have a good opportunities for perfect steelhead and salmon fly-fishing. The best time for the Oregon fly-fishing trip at the Rogue River is September and November, of course, it is still possible to fishing after November but the rain can be your friend at that time. I know from my on experience, that some people may avoid rivers and boats at all. Yes I was at your shoes. When I was a kid and I was on the fishing trip,my father and brother used to fish in the deep see to find a big one fish and theyfloating in the small boat to reach the best spots, and I always was staying at the bench waiting for them. And suddenly really, within the minutes or so the sea became heavy and there was a strong wind and large waves come. I was a bit afraid and I've said to myself"no more deep sea, no more boats or something". Fortunately that day everything was turned out all right and my father and brother reach the bench before the heavy weather really come. It was yeas ago and now I know that it can be very safe if you want to fish in a drift boats on the river, but you have to choose a right people to manage it.As for boats - nowadays they are very safe, dry and a good prepared for fly-fishing.The best choice maybe McKenzie style drift boats.
